Charlottesville Alliance Sports Club is excited to announce three new staffing announcements: current Travel Coach Jason Fargo will kick off the 2024-25 season as the club’s new Academy Elite Director - US Soccer Zone 1. Additionally, Mick Souders will serve as our Director of Player Development - US Soccer Zone 2. Finally, we are excited to announce Angie Lewis, who will serve as the Club’s Administrator!

Adding these three positions shows our club's growth and development plan for the Alliance community. These three will join our Full-Time Club Staff: Shay Bell, our Sporting Director, and Keaton Gumlock, our newly appointed Director of Operations. The Alliance is fully invested in the development of our players and knows having a strong Club and Technical Staff is key.

“I’m excited to begin to lead our Pre-Academy and Academy programs by taking on this opportunity as the Charlottesville Alliance Academy Director and continue working alongside my colleagues, players, and staff,” Coach Jason Fargo stated. “Charlottesville Alliance Sports Club is committed to bringing an incredible player experience through the game of soccer, and I’m honored to be a part of it. I am very excited about where we can take this programming and our club as a whole.”

Fargo is a US Soccer National B License coach who has been with the club since its inception and has had a large impact on player development within the state. In addition to his club coaching experiences, Coach Fargo Jason has been a VYSA State and District ODP staff member. He has extensive experience coaching in international competitions as an ODP and CC United coaching staff member. Before entering the coaching ranks, Coach Fargo played collegiately for Longwood University.

Souders is equally as enthusiastic: “I’m honored and excited to start my journey with Charlottesville Alliance Sports Club as the new Director of Player Development - US Soccer Zone 2. This is an amazing opportunity for me to greatly impact the development of such a great club. The Alliance has created such a community within the club and I am grateful to be a member! I look forward to getting to know all of the players and families within our club, but I also cannot wait to collaborate with the coaching staff. I’m committed, along with my colleagues and staff, to pushing our player development model and advancing initiatives that will continue to raise the bar for our players, coaches, and the soccer community. “

Souders joins the Alliance after his stint as the Fairbanks Youth Soccer Association Executive Director in Alaska. Sounders is a US Soccer National B License coach returning to Virginia. Coach Sounders was a professor at James Madison University and is returning to youth soccer in Virginia after spending four years at Shenandoah Valley United Soccer Club from 2018-2023.

To round out our club staff, we are excited to announce Angie Lewis is joining us. Angie will join the club as our Club Administrator! “I can’t wait to get involved with the Alliance and support families and players attain their club soccer goals!” stated Lewis. “I have experience organizing events and project management, so I aim to help streamline communication and allow our club’s goals, objectives, and mission to be fully executed for our membership!”

Charlottesville Alliance Sports Club Sporting Director Shay Bell said: “We are delighted to promote Jason Fargo and bring in Mick Souders as Directors and new members of our Technical Staff for Charlottesville Alliance Sports Club. Both bring a depth of experience from all levels of the game: youth, college, professional, and at the National Level. I am confident both will continue to excel in their new roles and lead Charlottesville Alliance Sports Club forward with professionalism and expertise. Additionally, bringing in Angie Lewis to manage the club’s administration will allow for us to have a professional overseeing all of our day-to-day operations and working with me, the board,  technical staff, coaches, and membership to always be on the same page and striding towards our club goals! I am excited about the growth of our club in just about three years and we will continue to look to advance our operations each season. Adding these three to our Club and Technical Staff will now assist our organization in focusing on our player pool and expanding that community. We will now be able to focus and lock into our player and community development model. With additional staff, we will be able to oversee all of our programs and players more and also offer more opportunities for coach, player, and parent education and seminars!”

The new Technical Staff members have assumed their roles immediately and have already kicked off the 2024-25 season. As an organization, we strive to be able to provide the best service and training to our club members. As this remains our mission we will continue to develop one of the strongest operating and coaching staffs in the country. Contact our staff at any time!
